The repertoire of concerts by Alexei Cherkasov is diverse and multifaceted. He plays Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, Ravel and other excellent composers, whose authorship is magnificent piano music. But Cherkasov himself admits that Russian classical music is closest to his soul. The music of Balakirev, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Scriabin most often sounds at his concerts. And the audience listens with bated breath: so much in this performance is personal, felt, lived, passed through oneself. Cherkasov also turns to the music of Soviet composers, plays Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Shchedrin.
