The name of the pianist Alexei Cherkasov, unfortunately, is not as well known in the music world as the talent of a performer deserves it.

Alexey Konstantinovich Cherkasov was born in 1943, at the height of the Great Patriotic War. At the age of twenty-three, the young man graduated perfectly from the piano department of the Moscow Conservatory. His teacher was the famous Ya.I. Zak. Subsequently, Cherkasov improved his skills in graduate school.

Contests wins

The beginning of the active concert activity of Alexei Cherkasov was in the mid-sixties. Prior to that, he had already managed to show his skills at prestigious competitions. In 1963, he received an honorable second place at a competition in Budapest, speaking in a sonata ensemble.

Two years later, A. Cherkasov won the second prize at the Marguerite Long competition in Paris. The second prize - in fact, and the first - in fact: the strict jury of the competition decided not to award anyone first place at all, so Alexey Cherkasov was the best among the contestants. This was fully recognized by the public, grateful to the pianist for his wonderful performances, permeated with an amazing love of music and an understanding of its deep essence.
