Piano for scrap: utilize the instrument
Sooner or later, a person with a piano, there is a need for its disposal. Such a situation is most often due to wear of the technical parameters of a musical instrument. The most common problems: poor fixation of the ring mechanism and the appearance of a significant crack in the cast-iron frame.
Of course, in this case the piano cannot be sold, and therefore the question “What to do” arises>
This work can only be done by men who have the skill to work with equipment. For the complete disposal of the piano, you need several different screwdrivers, 2 crowbars (small) and a tuning key. The best place to disassemble the piano is a non-residential premises, but, in most cases, this operation is carried out in the apartment.
Therefore, it is important to free the room from unnecessary items, at the scene of the action it is recommended to cover the floor with rags in several layers, first solve the lighting problem, and determine the place for storing the parts of the piano.
First you need to remove the bottom and top covers, they are fixed with two turntables. Then, take out the cornice (the cover that covers the keyboard) towards you. Next, you need to pull out the gammerbank, a kind of hammer mechanism, it is fixed with two or three nuts. When you have removed the hammer mechanism, you should unscrew the keyboard handle from both ends so that the keys can be removed.
When removing the keys from the stem, it is recommended to make a swinging movement left and right and lift them from the ends towards you. When all the keys are removed, you need to unscrew the 2 bars on the left and right (they had a keyboard handle on them). Next, you need to knock out the side consoles using a mallet.
After this, you can begin to twist the keyboard frame itself. Part of the screws is located on top and five to six below. At the end of this procedure, the piano must be put "on the back" and beat off the basement floor, as well as the side walls on both sides.
In the process of twisting the spikes and when removing the strings, be very careful and careful. The bottom line is that until all the pegs from the virbilbank are twisted, it is impossible to free the cast-iron frame from the back of the piano. It is recommended to start twisting the pegs from the strings with a winding, which are located on the left. Using the tuning key, you first need to loosen the string, and then with a thin but strong screwdriver, remove its end from the stake.
In order to make it easier to twist the pegs freed from the string, it is necessary to abundantly water its wooden seat with water. Having unscrewed absolutely all the pegs, having turned out all the screws that fixed the cast-iron frame, you can feel that the frame is “playing”.
Next, you need to stick one crowbar on the right, and the other on the left between the resonant deck and the frame, lifting it alternately, then left, then right. If everything is done correctly, then the cast-iron frame should "slide" to the floor. It is not difficult to disassemble the resonant deck, since now it is possible to deploy it in different positions.
